Hawaii Artist Heather Brown Releases New Limited Edition Giclees

Aloha Everyone!
I hope that everyone is having a great weekend and enjoying the Holiday Season!
It has been a busy one here so far with shows, interviews, painting and getting orders shipped out around the World. Mahalo to everyone for your continued support of my art, it always makes me so happy to hear from you and the stories about my art in your collections bringing smiles to your faces. I continue to make art each day with the hopes that it can bring more happiness into everyones lives.

I have just released some new Limited Edition Giclee and Artist Proof Editions through the past few shows and they are now available in galleries and online on my website as well.

In October I went down to Bali to work with the Rip Curl design teams from around the world to being working on my Heather Brown for Rip Curl Summer 2013 Collection. This piece "Bali Tranquility" was very much inspired by my time in Bali with the beauty of the waves, landscape and amazing temples with so much hand carved art.

Bali Tranquility by Hawaii Surf Artist Heather Brown

"Gem of the Sea" is a piece that is so near and dear to me as it reminds me of those perfect off season surf days here on the North Shore of Oahu in Hawaii. Sunny, beautiful conditions and space to move around with your thoughts, friends and family.

Hawaii Surf Artist Heather Brown's "Gem of the Sea"

"Girls Day" is a piece that is also completely inspired by the fun days spent here in Hawaii. It is always so nice to see all the females out in the lineup these days and to see the female pros just ripping at all the spots lining our 7 mile miracle here on the North Shore

"Girls Day" by Surf Artist Heather Brown
Jetty Surf was inspired by an East Coast surf trip a couple years ago. In Hawaii we don't surf too  many Jetty's but it seemed as if so many spots that we went and surfed out East were somewhat centered around Jetty's, rock groins and piers. I really liked the way that these features both natural and man made framed in some of these fun little surf spots and the scenes that would be created around a certain Jetty would all be so unique.

"Jetty Surf" by Hawaii Surf Artist Heather Brown

My husband Chris worked at this great surf shop right on the beach on Ocean City, MD for years growing up and after I got the chance to go see the shop and meet the amzing family and friends that own and run the shop, I was so inspired to create a piece centered around this great spot. Lee and the Malibu's gang have created such a cool spot and culture around a shop that believes in what they sell and sell the best surf good available anywhere. You can check them out in person on 8th st and the beach in Ocean City Md, or online at www.Malibus.com
This art was also featured on the CD cover for the "Best of Kapena" CD released this year

Tropical Hawaii is the image that is in my mind pretty much every hour of every day. This is what I see when I think Hawaii.

"Tropical Hawaii" by Haleiwa Surf Artist Heather Brown

"Ulu Tree" was an original commissioned by a non profit organization here in Hawaii that is about sustainability.
The Ulu Tree in Hawaii stand proud and beautiful and full of substinence. It was the food that was brought over to Hawaii by the ancient Polynesians when they sailed to Hawaii. Ulu fruit is also known as breadfruit. The piece is centered around this giant of substinence and shows the Hawaiian Ahupua'a stretching from the Ocean to the Mountain.

Heather Brown Show at Muʻumuʻu Heaven in Kailua November 2012

Aloha and Happy December!

This past Thursday evening, November 29, 2012, I had the honor of having my annual solo art show at Muʻumuʻu Heaven in Kailua on the East side of Oahu. This is now the 4th year in a row that I have had a show there and it is always so much fun as I love to hang out in the store and look at all the great things they have and the show is always a huge success.

This year I produced more small pieces of art for the show as well as a limited edition silkscreen print. I had this idea when we were down in Australia a few weeks ago to do a bunch of smaller pieces and frame them with the feel of the ultimate beach house, it turned out great, so great actually that it was really hard to part with them at the show, but I know they are all going to great new homes where I hope they will bring years and years of happiness and smiles!

If you are interested in any originals from the show, you can contact Mu'umu'u Heaven directly at (808) 263-3366 and they would be more than happy to help you out with what is left and they ship worldwide.
Heather Brown Art Show from Mu'umu'u Heaven on November 29, 2012

Chris made all the frames from recycled pallet wood and old reclaimed redwood flooring and the whole package together really had such a great organic feeling.

The silkscreen edition that I created for the show was a bit of a departure for me as I usually creat a new idea and pull it in one color for the entire edition, but on this one I pulled the same image with 4 different color ways and was so stoked on how they all came out singularly and even more stoked to see them hanging all together in a group. The edition is called "Sandy" and each color is limited to 25 pieces.

High Tide Surf Art Re-Post

The Godmother of Modern Surf Art has done it again! This time a small departure from her iconic surf art imagery to the nautical life in her newest design for High Tide Surf Art called "Rolling on the High Tide".

Heather Brown composed a show last year with over 40 original paintings depicting 1 complete scene that was entitled "Life at Sea Level" This show has spawned some great new ideas in Brownʻs creative head and throughout the past year we have been seeing some more nautical pieces that bring us the same smiles and serenity as her iconic surf art.

The tee shown below can be purchased directly from www.heatherbrownart.com or by just clicking on the image below will take you directly to the item for sizing and pricing details.

If you are on or around Oahu tomorrow, November 29, 2012 you can catch a brand new show by Heather Brown at Muʻumuʻu Heaven in Kailua on Oahuʻs East side from 4-7 pm with tons of new original art, new silkscreen editions, great pupuʻs, drinks and as always....FUN!

Heather Brown Holiday Gift Ideas!

Aloha!

I hope that everyone here in the USA and deployed had a great Thanksgiving! We had such a fun day with friends and family and great food!

I have received a lot of emails in the past few days regarding gift ideas for the holidays, so I decided to make it  little easier by highlighting a few each week on my blog here with direct links to purchase if you like what you see!

The first item is a great one for so many reasons, I picked our Green With Aloha Aluminum re-usable water (or any beverage) bottles that come complete with 2 separate tops for drinking so you can choose which one you want to use depending on what you are doing that day. I always LOVE to get gifts like these because I always can use them, great for a day at the beach, on the slopes even to keep in the fridge to have your water cold for you whenever you want. The best part about this as a gift is that it is not only a gift for the recipient but for the World as small steps like these bottles can help stop the use of single use plastics! Green With Aloha!

Clicking on the images below will take you directly to the area on my website for the product with purchasing details, etc.

Diamond Head Green With Aloha Re-usable Water bottle by Hawaii Artist Heather Brown

Haleiwa Artist Heather Brown captures the true essence of the Country and sustainability with her Haleiwa Bridge Green WIth Aloha re-usable water bottle.
The second items that I picked was my limited edition pint glasses available as a variety set of 4 as pictured below, full sets of 4 with 1 image or even just by the piece. Whenever we travel, Chris and I always try and pick up some pint glasses for our house and it is always so much fun to enjoy your favorite juices, water, sodas and more out of a glass that makes you smile!

Thatʻs all for today, stay tuned throughout the upcoming weeks for more suggestions and I wish everyone a happy and healthy holiday season!

Heather Brown Teams up with Surfrider Foundation Oahu for the 2012 John Kelly Awards

Aloha!

Wow, winter has begun here on The North Shore of Oahu! The past few days the temperature has dropped, the trades are back and straightened out in their wintertime deal and the swells have been blessing us a couple times a week! I love the fall/early winter season in Hawai'i, the changes in the temperatures and swell patterns and seeing friends from around the world come back for another season.

The kick off to me is always the Surfrider Foundation's annual John Kelly Awards held at Waimea Valley on the North Shore of Oahu.

Get some new art and help some people in desperate need! Let's all help the East coast recover as quickly and smoothly as we can. If you are not looking for art, you can still help by visiting any number of sites taking donations. Two of our favorites so far have been:
http://www.redcross.org/charitable-donations
and
http://www.wavesforwater.org/hurricane-sandy-relief-initiative/

Please help as we have all been in positions around the World in the past years where we have needed help or assistance and through the charity and good hearts of others, we have been able to start making positive steps, The East Coast needs your help now, please help do what you can as every little bit helps! Please spread the word too!

So, we have just returned from a 3 week tour showing art in Japan, Bali and Australia! Such a fun trip meeting so many new people and new experiences.
Our tour ended in Australia for the 2012 Byron Bay Surf Festival. I was so honored to be invited to the festival this year as a participating artist, and by all accounts this years festival was HUGE! It was so nice to see and meet so many surf art fans that came out to the opening night reception and the show was a great success. Mahalo to everyone at the Byron Bay Surf Festival, participating artist, surfers, bands, educators for making this event so enjoyable!
This was my first trip to Australia as well, so it was so nice to be in a place that is similiar to home but also different at the same time. We had a great time surfing the local areas, eating fresh organic local foods, touring around a bit and just relaxing in Byron and Lennox Head. Here are a few pictures from the event. Everyone Have a great weekend!

Hawaii Artists Heather Brown and Jake Shimabukuro Collaborate for November 2012 Jake SHimabukuro Hawaii Theatre Show

Aloha!

Hoping everyone had a great weekend (or is still having a long weekend!) A nice one here on the North Shore, some waves, sun, heat and even some VOG from the Big Island.

A couple of years ago I collaborated with Jake Shimabukuro for his Japan "I Love Ukulele" tour which was slated to be one of his first Eco Friendly tours, so we designed water bottles, reusable tote bags and nice organic cotton tees!
Well, a few months ago, I was lucky enough to be contacted again by Jake to take part in a great show that Jake will be producing on his own in hopes to make a yearly event of his idea "Jake Shimabukuro and Friends" at the historic Hawai'i Theatre in Downtown Honolulu. I obviously jumped at the chance to create art for such an epic and historic event right here in Hawai'i!

The show will take place at The Hawai'i Theatre on November 24, 2012 and tickets are available through The Hawaii Theatre
