Hawaii Artist Heather Brown To Release 2 New Limited Edition Giclees at Wyland Gallery Haleiwa Saturday July 28, 2012

Aloha!

I hope everyone has had a great week!

I will be having a show at The Wyland Gallery in Haleiwa tomorrow, Saturday July 28, 2012 from 3-7pm! I will be showing new originals and even two new published originals that are now available as Limited Edition Giclees!

Haleiwa Arts Festival
Heather Brown of Haleiwa on the North Shore of Oahu in Hawaii will be having an Art Show on Saturday July 28, 2012 at The Wyland Gallery in Haleiwa

"Hoaaloha's (Best friends or dear friends in Hawaiian) is a piece that was commissioned by Rip CUrl for the Rip Curl by Heather Brown line upcoming in summer 2013. I was so stoked on how it came out that I decided to offer it up as well as a limited edition giclee of 100 as well as a Hand Highlighted Artist Proof edition of just 10.

"Pipeline Perfection" started out as a piece that was going to be much more heavilly influenced by the mountain backdrop, but as the painting continued I was constantly reminded of those special days at Pipeline on The North Shore of Oahu in Hawaii where everything is just working great and every wave could be a postcard picture. Pipeline is such a special place for me as one of my first artist studios was just up the beach fronting Rockpiles, The house that you see through the barrel of the wave would have been my old studio.

Heather Brown X Jalpak Hawaii Collaboration Bus Project in Honolulu

Aloha Everyone!

It has been a little while since I have updated, but so much has been happening!!

This past Friday, we attended a Hawaiian blessing for a project that I have been working on with Jalpak Hawaii. For the past few months I have been busy preparing artwork for a brand new Jalpak Hawaii double decker tour bus! It was such a fun project to work on and the people at Jalpak Hawaii made it such a pleasure.

We started out with the rough dimensions of the bus including windows, doors, etc and figured out that I needed to basically paint an image that was 18"x72" so it could be scaled up correctly to fit the bus size with no distortion. I ended up painting two 18x36 canvasses that matched up and then we could stitch them together digitally once they were done and scanned and send to the printer for the bus wrap.

The theme that we went with on this bus was "Discover Aloha" and once I saw the bus in person, I really had the feeling of Aloha washing over me (maybe i'm a bit biased though!) For the back of the bus, we used the "Rainbow Birds" so anyone behind the bus could not help but smile!

Jalpak was so great to us and we were able to spend a couple of days in Waikiki and even had the chance to see the bus rolling down Kalakaua Ave after the blessing, it was so neat to see my art in that size and on wheels! I want to sincerely thank everyone at Jalpak Hawaii and JAL who made this project happen, Mahalo Nui Loa!

Hawaii Surf Artist Heather Brown feature on Pacific Pulse with Guy Hagi

Aloha!

I hope everyone had a great weekend! We had a really nice time this weekend starting Friday night with a great Surf Art show at Mu'umu'u Heaven in Kailua with two of our great friends and artists from Japan, Yusuke Hanai and Hi -Dutch! There exhibit is beautiful and will be on display all month at Mu'umu'u Heaven in Kailua, so you should check it out if you are on Island!

The rest of the weekend we got to cruise around the North Shore with Yusuke and Hi-Dutch and even scored some really fun longboard waves all day on Sunday and ended the weekend with a fun BBQ at our house with Yusuke, Hi-Dutch, The Two Crows Surfboards Crew and Hawaii Surf Artist Clark Takashima. It is always so nice to spend time with such talented and motivated people here on The North Shore of Oahu. Hawaii Artists and Japanese Artists sharing food, drink and good conversations!

A few weeks ago, Guy Hagi (Hawai'i's most famous weatherman) had asked me to film with him for a new segment that he has created called "Pacific Pulse" Guy is a weatherman and news contributor for Hawaii News Now KGMB and KHNL and is the one to watch when the surf starts coming up. I was so excited because Guy Hagi has been a face on the news that I have known for so long in Hawai'i and now he asked me to film a segment with him! It was so much fun just going in the news room and seeing how it all comes together and Guy made me so comfortable in the interview I felt like I was just chatting with an old friend! The segment aired last week on TV and is now available to see online.

Hawaii Artist Heather Brown Releases New Silkscreen!

Aloha!

Rainy Rainy couple days up here on the North Shore, but perfect weather for getting more work done!
I started a new multi colored silkscreen about 10 days ago, and I am so stoked that they have come out great!
When I was in Art School at The University of Hawai'i at Manoa, I concentrated on printmaking and that was where my style ended up coming out of. In printmaking, especially some of the older techniques, you generally see really bold striking lines. I loved printmaking so much but when I left school and all of the great equipment and supplies that were available, it became harder to practice these mediums on my dive master budget! That is when my style really came to be and I just started to paint how I would make prints, shading, color work and thousands of painting hours later, my style has remained fairly consistent as my love for printmaking is still as strong today as it ever has been.

I am currently working on art for 3 shows this summer on Oahu, Japan shows in September, Australia shows in October, then back to Hawai'i for a few shows through the Triple Crown Of Surfing season, so I am definitely busy painting to say the least! My husband Chris suggested for me to dedicate 1 day each week to creating art in different styles, mediums, etc and it has been so fun! Soon I will show you some of the paintings that have come from these days! Sometimes when I am waiting on certain paint layers to dry, etc, I work on other small projects, well this small project turned into a big project in being a full color silkscreen (all hand pulled in my studio on The North Shore of Oahu).

Well, the results came out great and I am so happy to release this new Limited Edition Silkscreen print titled "Vintage Surf" The edition came out to 40 pieces. The art itself measures about 11"x14" and is matted with a full dimension of 16"x20"
Chris then took the prints and finished off some beautiful frames that our friend and Green With Aloha employee, Alex Cox had made from recycled pallets (pallets are taking over our beautiful Island state, so we have begun to use them and give them a beautiful second life!) These frames are each unique and work with the prints perfectly, some go more with the greens, some with the browns, etc. Each one is detailed to fit perfectly with the motion and colors of the print.

For fun and my little habit of Instagram, I documented some of the steps of creating the new piece, below is a little photo story of the creation of "Vintage Surf"

Hawaii Artist Heather Brown Announces Summer 2012 Art Shows

Aloha Everyone!

I hope everyone is having a great weekend! We actually spent the day yesterday at Waimea Bay and had such a nice relaxing day swimming and floating around in the sun, it felt so nice to take the day off and enjoy Hawai'i and Oahu's North Shore in the summertime!

I wanted to announce my schedule for this summer, I have been busy painting and getting ready for 3 upcoming shows here on Oahu.

The first is one of my favorites every year and I always look forward to participating. This years Haleiwa Arts Festival will be on July 21 and 22, 2012 at the Haleiwa Beach Park in Haleiwa on the north shore of Oahu. This is a great event put on by great hardworking people each year and each year is so much fun to meet fellow artists from around Hawai'i and have two full days to meet fans and collectors old and new alike.

Heather Brown will be one of the Artists attending the 15th Annual Haleiwa Arts Festival on The North Shore of Oahu in Hawai'i

The following Saturday, July 28, 2012, I will be having a show at The Wyland Gallery in Haleiwa at The North Shore Marketplace. The Wyland Gallery in Haleiwa has been one of my longest supporters and I love going into the gallery and seeing how they display my artwork, they are actually one of the few locations where you can generally see my whole portfolio of limited edition pieces in one place. I always feel so honored to be an artist in The Wyland Galleries and so happy to be featured in the Wyland Gallery in Haleiwa close to home.

The crew there puts on a great show and it is always such a huge International melting pot of friends, fans and collectors. I am excitedly painting for these shows now and can't wait to show off my new collection of originals this summer!
