Hawai'i Map Surf Art on Bamboo by Heather Brown

Bamboo wood print featuring an aerial view of the Hawaiian Islands by tropical artist Heather Brown. These sustainable bamboo panels are made with 100% solar power using the world’s most eco-conscious and organic materials. Bamboo is one of the fastest growing, renewable resources in the world. With it’s properties comparable to hardwood, bamboo is the ideal alternative to increasingly scarce tropical hardwoods. Because the bamboo plant does not die after harvesting (as with trees) there is no deforestation which makes it the most sustainable choice!

Each panel has unique natural bamboo wood grain, which gives the printed artwork wonderful character. In fact, no two prints are ever the same! They go through several rounds of hand-sanding to provide a glass-like finish and are finally printed with a matte finish using eco-friendly printing processes.

I have been working on 9 new pieces in a new series of Hawaiiana Elements. The second piece in the collection is the Tiki Mug. I have always loved spending hours in thrift stores and swap meets searching for cool and rare finds. Mostly oceanic art and vintage Hawaiiana and South Pacific art and products. The Tiki Mug is always high on my wish list when we are searching. I had so much fun painting this rendition of the iconic tiki mug and putting a little of my own style and spin to it.

Heather Brown paints the Iconic Anahulu Bridge (Rainbow Bridge) in Haleiwa, North Shore Oahu, Hawai'i

Here is a piece I painted for a recent group exhibition at The Wyland Gallery in Haleiwa on the beautiful North Shore of Oahu!
The group show focused on the iconic Anahulu Bridge in Haleiwa. The Anahulu Bridge is often referred to as "Rainbow Bridge" and for many it has been the gateway to the Country, a gateway to some of the largest surf int he world or just a fun place to jump in the river from on a hot summer afternoon. My piece "Rainbow Bridge" is now available as a giclee on canvas, paper and wood print as well as trucker hat!

Surf Stroll was one of my fastest selling surf art pieces as a limited edition on canvas. Now you can wear it too! New patch design gives better color and a great new feel on our same tried and true trucker hats!

Blue Barrel is also a sold out piece on canvas. I originally painted Blue Barrel after one of my favorite pieces, Outer Reef, sold out and I wanted to paint something with that big North Shore surf feel that we get to enjoy every winter (especially this week!!)

Anuenue is Hawaiian for Rainbow, and after living in Hawai'i for mod tot my adult life, I still never tire of seeing daily rainbows! When I am on the road for months at a time, I often look at all the rainbow pictures I have taken on my IPhone to bring a little part of home with me. Now I can wear it on my head and feel the good vibes all day long!

Haleiwa Sunset! What else needs to be said, if you have ever had the chance to spend a sunset on the beach during the winter season on the North Shore of Oahu, Hawai'i you will know this beauty. If you haven't yet, my painting does;t do it any justice, the most beautiful sight and I never get tired of it!

Well we got really lucky here in Hawaii and tropical storm Flossie didn't really cause much damage more than a normal storm system that we see regularly!! We spent most of the day battoning down the hatches at our home and studio on Monday in preparations, then we sat and decided to make new tees and hats!

Happy Sunday Funday from the North Shore of Oahu in the beautiful Islands of Hawai'i!

We have just released some new trucker hats for Summer 2013 and we are really stoked on them!

The first is a logo design I did for a great little company that my husband started with some of our good friends called Hawaii Aloha Company. Their mission is to produce Hawai'i  souveniers that are actually made in Hawai'i using the most eco friendly methods and reclaimed and recycled materials whenever possible by people who actually live in Hawai'i , get paid fair wages and receive health insurance and a nurturing work environment. The Trucker hats and tees I produced for them is just the tip of the iceberg, stay tuned to check out more of their great creations!

The second new release is of one of my favorite images that I have painted called "Pipe Dreams". In collaboration with High Tide we put a cool distressed feel to this image to give it that great old feeling right from the start.
