New Trucker Hats from Heather Brown, High Tide and Hawaii Aloha Company

Aloha!

Happy Sunday Funday from the North Shore of Oahu in the beautiful Islands of Hawai'i!

We have just released some new trucker hats for Summer 2013 and we are really stoked on them!

Clicking on the pictures below will take you to my website for purchasing options.

The first is a logo design I did for a great little company that my husband started with some of our good friends called Hawaii Aloha Company. Their mission is to produce Hawai'i  souveniers that are actually made in Hawai'i using the most eco friendly methods and reclaimed and recycled materials whenever possible by people who actually live in Hawai'i , get paid fair wages and receive health insurance and a nurturing work environment. The Trucker hats and tees I produced for them is just the tip of the iceberg, stay tuned to check out more of their great creations!

The second new release is of one of my favorite images that I have painted called "Pipe Dreams". In collaboration with High Tide we put a cool distressed feel to this image to give it that great old feeling right from the start.

And the 3rd new release is of my little Aloha Bird. We made a bunch of these stickers for my last Japan tours and I fell in love with it so much during that time that we made the hats as soon as we returned home!

Surf Artist Heather Brown May 2013 Japan Tour

Aloha!

Wow, what a whirlwind spring! I just returned from my second spring tour in Japan and had such a great time! I can't believe it is already almost June though.

This past Japan tour was so much fun and started out with one of my most favorite events each year, The Greenroom Festival in Yokohama Japan. The Greenroom Festival is a 2 day festival that takes place each year (this was my 5th year attending as an artist) that is filled with live music on 4+ stages, surf and skateboard film screenings and surf artists from around the world. It is almost overwhelming as there is so much cool stuff and things there to do, see and listen to.

I had a lot of fun preparing my wall for Greenroom this year and did almost all of my originals on reclaimed pallet boards that Chris had made for me and I was so stoked on the look and feel of the pieces, and they seemed to be a big hit too! We also debuted the brand new Hawaii Skateboard Company skateboards at the show, some with art some just ready to ride! Please visit the Hawaii Skateboard Company website here and like them on Facebook here

Greenroom Festival is always so busy and a great chance to meet with some really fun people and share art and Aloha

One of the highlights of this years Greenroom Festival was getting to hang out and listen to my favorite musicians Tommy Guerrero and Ray Barbee of the Blacktop Project as well as both having great solo albums. Not pictured here are two other great musicians from Blacktop Project Chuck Treece and Matt Rodriguez.

After Greenroom Festival we had a couple of free days to go and skateboard around and enjoy some great sightseeing and fun around Japan, I even got to visit Hakone and had such a wonderful experience and loved the Onsen (natural hot spring)

Next we headed down to Osaka for the Grand Opening of the new Heather Brown Gallery in Osaka!!
I was so excited not only to open but I was able to hand paint and letter the new sign for the gallery, I have always been a huge fan of hand lettered/hand painted signs, so I was naturally stoked to be able to do it for the Heather Brown Gallery in Osaka!

From The grand opening of the Heather Brown Gallery in Osaka, the following day I had a show at the Ron Herman store in Kobe Japan and had such a great time, not only did so many fans come out to support but the store itself is so cool! The staff were all so warm and welcoming and we had a really fun day!

And my final show of my Japan spring tour 2013 was in one of my favorite cities in Kyoto Japan. I had my show at the Takashimaya store in Kyoto and was totally shocked at how many people showed up! IT was so much fun because one of my first tours of Japan we visited Kyoto and did shows in some small cafes and met people with so much Aloha there. I have been back a few times since but this welcoming into Kyoto was by far the biggest I could have ever expected. Mahalo to the great staff at the Takashimaya store for putting on such a great event!

The following day, Chris and I had some free time before catching our flight so we made a few essential stops when in Kyoto. The first was to visit Cafe Uli Uli and get some Ono grinds and meet with our friend and Cafe Uli Uli owner Junko. They make such great food and the atmosphere is so fun. She hosted a welcoming party for us when we came here in 2009 filled with live hawaiian music, hula and great food. This year, we popped in by surprise since she could not make it to the Takashimaya show!

And the final stop was at my favorite Ramen spot on Earth, the original Tenkaippin in Kyoto, we were still full from Uli Uli, but I could not bear to leave Kyoto without going to the original!

So it was such a great trip with so much fun and showing art to so many people that just love to share Aloha! Be back in the Autumn, but for now it's time to have a nice summer in Hawai'i!

Heather Brown's Early Spring Japan Tour Recap

Aloha!

Wow, I can;t believe it is already the middle of May!! We returned from my early spring Japan tour just a couple of weeks ago now and unfortunately the first 10 days we were back I suffered from a pretty rough Flu and bronchitis type infection that had me layed out for quite a while, but I am back and healthy!! Thank you to all my fans, friends and family for all the well wishes and natural oils and supplements, they have all helped out so much and I feel just about 100% now!

My tour in Japan was so fun, so fast and so busy! I had 3 shows in 4 days with a total of more than 40 hours of actual travel...Planes...trains and automobiles! A total whirlwind, but so much fun to show my art and share Aloha with so many great people!

An Extra big Mahalo to Hawaiian Airlines who furnished Chris and I with the greatest Business Class experience in one of their beautiful new planes and as always such friendly flight attendants! Mahalo Nui Loa to Hawaiian Airlines fro the great travel and being one of the great sponsors for the 2013 Odaiba Hawaii Festival!

As I write, I am also getting ready to leave again in a few days for a 12 day Japan tour starting with this years Greenroom Festival in Yokohama Japan next weekend! This is always my favorite event and this year two of my favorite musicians will be performing, Ray Barbee and Tommy Guerro!!

I thought I would share a few pictures of some of the Original Art that I created for this past tour as well as a few random shots from the 4 days. I will post my upcoming Japan tour schedule within the next day or so, so keep your eyes out!

Chris hand shaped some really beautiful handplanes for me to paint on as well as made some cool reclaimed planks that I painted on too, they were really fun and seemed to be a hit!

Heather Brown Releases new Limited Edition Giclees from 2013 Japan Early Spring Tour

Aloha!

I hope that everyone is having a nice weekend so far! We returned from my first 2013 Spring Japan tour on Monday and unfortunately I got a bit sick from exhaustion so this week has mostly been spent in bed watching bad TV! But I am feeling like I am getting better now and hope to be creating lots of new art for my upcoming Japan tour and the 2013 Greenroom Festival soon!

I released a few new limited edition giclees on my Japan tour last week and they are now available through the galleries that represent my art worldwide as well as on my website.

Waikiki Holiday was originally commissioned to be the art for the 2013 Odaiba Hawaii Festival in Odaiba Japan. This is the largest Hawaii Festival in the world with over 3/4 of a million people in attendance. I was honored to create the art again this year for the event which was themed "Aloha Together" and see it all over the Tokyo area on my last trip to Japan in support of the festival. Now the limited edition giclees and Hand Highlighted Artist Proofs are now available!

Heather Brown at the Odaiba Hawaii Festival in Japan

Aloha!

It is an early Saturday morning here on the North Shore of Oahu and the sun is just starting to creep up over the mountains and show us if the surf will be fun or not today! The anticipation!! We have been blessed the past few weeks with late season fun swells here so it has been nice to be getting back in the water after some time in the mountains.

I have also been so busy preparing for my first of two Spring Tours in Japan coming up. The first one starts later on this week!

On my first Spring 2013 Japan Tour I will be having 3 shows:

Saturday April 27, 2013 at the Odaiba Hawaii Festival
Sunday April 28, 2013 at the Osaka Takashimaya
and Monday April 29, 2013 we will be celebrating the 4 year anniversary of the Heather Brown Gallery in Daikanyama, Tokyo!!

Last year I was asked to create the art for the Odaiba Hawaii Festival and I was totally honored as this is the largest Hawaii festival in the world showcasing Hawaiian music, hula, art, food and culture to hundreds of thousands of people over a week period.

This year, I was thrilled to be asked once again to create the art for the festival as well as have a pop up gallery there for the week! Here is a peek at the poster that I created for the 2013 Odaiba Hawaii Festival "Aloha, Together" the piece is also being released as a limited edition giclee titled "Waikiki Holiday" that will be available at my Japan tour then everywhere on April 27, 2013.

To make it even better, one of the main sponsors of the Odaiba Hawaii Festival is Hawaiian Airlines and they so generously gave Chris and I First Class tickets on Hawaiian Airlines to get to the big event!
Big Big Mahalo to Hawaiian Airlines for helping to put on such a great event as well as get us there in style!

Mahalo to Hawaiian Airlines for getting tickets for Heather Brown to the 2013 Odaiba Hawaii Festival!
It is always really fun to me as an artist to be able to create art for events like this or larger scale installations as it still is so odd to me to see my art used in these ways and makes me almost cry each time I see it still! I still can not believe it!!

Hawaii Surf Artist Heather Brown wins the Verizon/Modern Luxury 4G4HopeHawaii Campaign with the Kokua Hawaii Foundation!

Aloha Everyone!

Wow! So excited that after all this time and voting and raising awareness for the Hawai'i Kokua Foundation that we received enough votes to WIN $10,000 for the Kokua Foundation in the Verizon and Modern Luxury Hawaii 4G4HopeHawaii campaign!!

First off, I want to sincerely thank all of you who voted and shared and supported this for the past few months, you all are the reason that such a great organization will be receiving this $10,000!! Mahalo! Mahalo!! Mahalo!!!!

And of course, a huge Mahalo to the Kokua Foundation, Jack and Kim Johnson and the whole crew who do such great things for our community and the Earth. Mahalo to Verizon and Modern Luxury Hawai'i Magazine for putting on this even and putting up the $$$, they were so great that even the foundations that did not win received $4,000 each!!! Mahalo to the Republik in Honolulu for hosting such a nice event and bringing the community together to show how we the people work hard for the things we believe in.

And last but no where near least, thank you my new and old friends who i was extremely honored and humbled to be able to have a friendly competition with in this great 4G4HopeHawaii.

Jake Shimabukuro has not only been such a kind and friendly competitor in this competition but I am always honored to call him a friend and have been so lucky in the past years that he has chosen to work with me on his different projects and commissioned my art for his tours. Jake's support of HUGS is nothing short of excellent and it is great to see how he still holds onto such important values in such a super stardom role. Jake is a true gentleman and for sure the best 4 string player I have ever had the honor to watch play!

Jamie O Brien has always been the one I would watch out for when I would be painting in my first little studio at Off The Wall/Backdoor Pipeline. He is so imaginative riding waves, producing great movies and inspiring people to get involved with charities that make sense to them, and he has truly embraced the Mauli Ola Foundation (another foundation I am always so happy to work with) Jamie and Mick have always been so gracious to me and Chris since we moved off the beach to let us come and enjoy the Pipeline spectacle from their lanai, and we love them, they are great people! And with Kala Alexander, our other long time friend accepting for Jamie and always pushing the Mauli Ola Foundation further ahead, this was a great team.

I was able to make a new friendship with the extremely popular and talented actress from Tru Blood fame, Kristina Anapau! I was so nervous to meet a real movie and TV star, but quickly realized how completely grounded and humble Kristina is and hit it off immediatly. Kristina also impressed me so much for her unbelievable support of her foundation (another one I support deeply) Stand Up For Cancer.
