I hope you are having a great week so far! It is a bit rainy and cold here on the north shore of Kaua'i thus morning and the whole past week, so my mind has been wandering and it keeps bringing me to those hot and sunny summer days. One of my favorite summer beach destinations is Polihale beach on the west side of Kauai's. Miles of fluffy white sand, beautiful water with every shade of blue imaginable and a fun mellow vibe make this for a favorite beach day or overnight camping adventure.

Offshore Perfection is my interpretation of the huge winter time waves paired with perfect offshore wind conditions making for epic big wave surfing on the north shore of Oahu.

Growing up in a family of artists and artisans in Southern California, Heather Brown found her passions in both art and nature at a very early age. Later, working as a boat captain and dive master to put herself through the Bachelors of Fine Arts program at The University of Hawaiʻi gave Heather Brown the perfect vantage point to fill her head with the beautiful imagery of the Hawaiian Islands. Heather Brown honed her artistic skills as a student at the University, focusing primarily on the "lost arts" of intaglio printmaking, silkscreen printing, linocuts, woodcuts, and etchings which explains where her iconic style was born and bred.

Heather Brown has made it her life's work to capture the true essence of the most beautiful beaches, surf breaks, and locales in Hawaiʻi and around the world. She has been coined the "Godmother of Modern Surf Art" by the Los Angeles Times. Heather Brown’s art has become a benchmark in the global surf art market, finding its way into collector’s homes around the world.

Throughout Heather Brown’s career she’s been named "Best Artist In Hawaiʻi" for four consecutive years, and chosen as Rip Curl’s "Artist of the Search" for the past five years now garnering her own clothing line "Heather Brown for Rip Curl." She has created art for The Vans Triple Crown of Surfing, Jack Johnson’s Kōkua Festival, The Surfrider Foundation and many more as well as opening up Heather Brown Galleries in Tokyo, and Osaka Japan. She continues to work with numerous non-profits around the world, always keeping "giving back" extremely close to her heart.

New Heather Brown Original Surf Art at The Bright Side Gallery Kaua'i, Hawai'i

Happy ALOHA Friday!!

I just dropped off two new original surf art pieces to the Bright Side Gallery in historic Hanapepe town on Kauai's west side.

The first is a special Kaua'i piece inspired by the raw and natural beauty of Polihale Beach on Kauai's west side. This beach art piece shows the solitude of this natural area of coastline flanked on one side by the majestic Napali Coast.

The second piece is a fun surf girl piece with some spring colors, I know we are far from spring, but the weather has been cold, windy and rainy for some time up on the north shore and painting this piece warmed me up!

Sunday Morning Nostalgia!

In the Barrel was one of the first pieces I painted after graduating UH. I waited for a couple of years before I sold it and had it scanned for print and released. This was right at the point that my cubist nature was getting a bit rounder and more detailed. I've always loved these colors together and the feeling that they invoke.
