Surf Girl by Kaua'i Surf Artist Heather Brown

Aloha!
I'm often asked about the first piece of art that I sold. While I honestly can't remember (wish I could) it was so many years ago before I ever thought of pursuing art full time that I never really thought about remembering those details at the time.
While this piece, Surf Girl, was probably after the first 50-75 paintings I sold (sold a ton of my art when I was in Art school on Ebay and to friends) Surf Girl to me will always be the piece that I really think of as one of my first "real" pieces that set me on a track of working as a full time artist. I painted about 10 studies of this piece and it originally started out as an Intaglio print when I was still in school, but this was the final "Surf Girl" that I released as a limited edition giclee and now as a matter print on sugar cane paper as well as a wooden print.
It is always fun and sometimes difficult to look back on my older art as I see so much room for refinement, but then I love the nostalgia and the more cubist feel of them. Not many of my older images remain in my current catalog of available art, but the ones that do, like Surf Girl, have a strong tie to my heart.
Aloha and Mahalo for the years of support and friendship around the world!
