Waikiki Coastline by Hawaii Surf Artist Heather Brown

ALOHA Monday!!! With this weekends south swells, warm water and sunbathed days, it reminds me that SUMMER is right around the corner!!! YEAH! While we love the waves on the North Shore all winter and enjoy the fluffy powder in the mountains, Summer always holds such a special place in my heart! Town days, warm nights, barbecues every weekend, free diving on the North Shore and West Side and of course the famous Summer Time South Swells that make the Waikiki surf come ALIVE!
In my spring time dreams, this is always how I see Waikiki and wait for the right summer days to go experience it all! Limited Edition Prints on Canvas of Waikiki Coastline can be found at the galleries around the world that support my art and online on my website here

I am so Happy to announce that on Saturday May 9, 2015 I will be returning to Southern California for two shows!

The first show is on Saturday May 9, 2015 from 2-4 pm at The California Surf Museum in Ocean side, California. I am so excited to have the chance to exhibit my artwork there and as a special surprise, I will be unveiling my newest piece which is of one of my favorite San Diego surf spots! Years ago I lived in Oceanside on the strand and never in my wildest dreams would I think that I would have the opportunity to exhibit my art here at the museum that means so much to the history of surfing!

Heather Brown's Way Back Wednesday Art Project : Scary Stories From The Zoo.... By Heather Brown

ALOHA!

When I was attending The University of Hawai'i at Manoa for my Bachelors in Fine Arts Degree, I was able to take so many fun and interesting classes and focus on some great projects that once you leave art school get harder and harder to do on the "outside"

This was a final project for a class I took at UH called Expanded Arts. We had to make the entire project from scratch. This consisted of over 500 drawings and photographing each one individually, recording sounds at The Honolulu Zoo and then taking them back to my audio software to manipulate them to work with the video and creating the packaging as well. Below is the link to the video on YouTube as well as the still pictures from the booklet that would have come with the DVD.

I am definitely not an animator by any stretch of the imagination, but this was such a fun project to work on, think its from about 2002-2003.

Last year about this same time I finished my first ever published California piece that was commissioned for the Scripps Cancer Research Annual Legends Longboard Contest and Luau in La Jolla CA.
Currently working on my second published California piece from on of my all time favorite San Diego Surf Breaks that will debut at my opening reception for my upcoming exhibit starting May 9, 2015 at The California Surf Museum in Oceanside CA. Can you guess what spot I am painting?
