More New Hoodies and the Blue Bag is Back!!!

Aloha!

Just in time for the New Year, I just picked up a new design on the same great lightweight organic cotton hoodies I have been using. The new design is the "High Tide" design. It is called the "Wave" and it is now available on my website!
Also, back by popular demand is the Blue Wave tote bag. This bag is the same great organic cotton as the other totes, just a bit smaller. Many cites and counties around the country are starting to ban plastic bags from the retail stores, so help lead the charge and get some great, strong, organic cotton shopping bags that will last you years to come now!

Wishing everyone a very Safe, Happy and Healthy New Year!

Some Pictures from The Finals of the Pipeline Master's

Aloha!

I hope everyone had a great Christmas and/or Holiday season! It is a rainy, grey morning here filled with thunder and lightning (which we rarely get). I am working on some new BIG paintings and thought I would take a little break to share some photo's that Chris took from the final day at the 2010 Billabong Pipeline Masters. It was such a great day down there for the final day, the surf could have been a bit more consistent, but the weather was great and the beach was packed! It was truly a great professional event.
Enjoy the pictures!

Heather Brown Surf Art New Hoodies and Tee's!

Merry Christmas Eve!

What a beautiful North Shore morning, ready to go hit the beach and find some nice glassy waves today!

Before I go, I just posted 3 new items to my website that you can see below. The design was a really popular design I put out a couple years ago based on a painting that I did called "Outer Reef"Back by popular demand, here it is! The zip hoodies are Unisex regular fit eco-heather (38% organic cotton, 50% recycled polyester, 12% naturally occurring rayon) l/s zip hoodie. This lightweight hoodie is printed with all water based inks for a great feel and low environmental impact. I also printed some 100% organic cotton men's tees with the same design.

ALSO!!!! I have a special 3 day holiday special on the Zip Hoodies, if you purchase between now and 12/26/10 you can get your zip hoodie for only $40! They normally sell for $60, so hurry up and get your order in before the strike of midnite on the 26th!

Surf Art show with Yusuke Hanai and Koji Toyoda

Aloha,

Last night Chris and I ventured down into Waikiki to attend my good friend and fellow Surf Artist, Yusuke Hanai, show called "Aloha" with Koji Toyoda.
It was so great to see friends here from Japan, great new art works and a really supportive crowd for a surf art show! We are huge fans of Yusuke's and collectors of his art as well (we actually bought two new linocut prints from him last night, now we just need more wall space!)
Today I am still busy with finishing touches for the Annual Artists of the Triple Crown show tonight at the Wyland Gallery in Haleiwa, it is from 6-10, so if you are on Island, you should stop by, there will be so many great artists that have worked on Triple Crown art through the years there. Hope to see you tonight!

2010/2011 Eddie Aikau Big Wave Invitational Opening Ceremony at Waimea Bay

Aloha,

Yesterday Chris and I ventured out into the cold, rainy weather to go to the 2010/2011 Eddie Aikau Big Wave Invitational Opening Ceremony at Waimea Bay. It was so worth the rain and wind to see these true warriors of the sea and masters in the art of big wave surfing. The opening ceremony started with all the guys in a circle and Mark Cunningham announcing all the alternates and invitees to this prestigious event. From There, Kahu Billy Mitchell did a Pule for the surfers, then the paddle out to the middle of Waimea Bay. It was such a moving event to attend, now I can't wait till the contest runs! Hope we get a big enough swell this year. Enjoy the pictures. Aloha and Mahalo!

2010 Rell Sunn Aloha Jam

Aloha!
Here are a few pictures from the 2010 Rell Sunn Aloha Jam.
The event was held on 11/28/2010 in Waimea Valley and it was beautiful. Rell's daughter, Jan and her family tirelessly work to put this event and the Menehune Surf Event on every year following Rell's commitment to the community and keiki.
The event was full of great music, dancing, art ( I donated a giclee for the silent auction) great food and a virtual who's who in the surf community. The MC's were Freddy P and Mark Cunningham, and they did a great job including the live auctions at the end.
It was such an honor to watch Cyril Pahinui play traditional Hawaiian music and the Dance Troop was so great, I could have watched them all night long! Mahalo to Jann and the Ohana for inviting me to be a part in this great event!
If you do not know who Rell Sunn is, here is a little on her:

Often referred to as the "Queen of Makaha," Rell was the quintessential water-woman, excelling at all watersports, including surfing, bodysurfing, spearfishing, and open-water outrigger canoeing. In the early 70's, Rell was instrumental in establishing the Women's Professional Surfing Association and founding the women's pro surfing tour in which she twice finished third in the year end rankings.  Despite all of her accomplishments, Rell Sunn remained a completely humble and unselfish person, and might easily have been called the "Queen of Aloha" for the spirit she carried with her, and the enthusiasm she devoted to every aspect of her life.
